8 In this picture, you can see the bullseye cane I selected for the petals. It was a bit large, so I reduced its size, then pinched along its length to create a petal shape. Cut thin slices and place them on the green clay. Trim the cane slices to conform to the curve. Roll the slices in, completely embedding them. You should be able to run your fingers across the surface of the piece and not feel any edges.

9 Cut a thin strip from the zipper cane. This piece should be thin, but not so thin that you can see through it to the pattern below. Lay this piece along the curve and press it in. Roll to completely embed the strip into the piece. (This is important—you don’t want to sand away the zipper cane!)
